In mid-January Yonsei will email you saying that the course catalog for your semester is available. You won't be able to register until February, but you can preview the course catalog to plan out your classes. The catalog isn't exact and some classes may not actually be offered when registration opens, but it's good to have an idea of what you need to take in mind. When I was previewing the classes I got really worried because it showed that all of the business courses were not open to exchange students. I talked with Kathy and Rikki right away because I thought I wasn't going to be able to take the classes I needed, but Yonsei later updated the business classes. So, if you see an "X" in the exchange column under every single business class, don't stress! The "X's" are just temporary and some business courses will eventually be updated to show that they are open to exchange students.
Course registration is usually in about mid-February, although this semester the schedule was pushed back due to the coronavirus. Make sure that you thoroughly read the registration guide that Yonsei sends because there is a lot of information on how the process works.
As usual, keep in mind that all the dates are given in Korean time. The first and second day of course registration is the Mileage Bidding process. You have 72 points in total and you can distribute those points amongst the classes you want to bid for however you want. If you are not sure how much points you should bid for your classes, you can click on the righthand side of the listed course and it will give you a summary, including the average number of points that students usually bid for it. To be safe I bid a couple of points more than the average for each class.
After the bidding process ends, you will find out whether you got your classes a day later. During this period you can only view your classes, and the classes you applied for will be under a "Confirm" list. If you did not get a certain class, it will be under the "Waiting" list.
Right after the Results Period ends, the Waiting Number System begins. During this time you can add classes that aren't already full - it's first-come, first-serve, so be punctual! If you are on the waitlist for a certain class and a spot opens up for you, that class will be automatically added to your schedule. The waitlist is updated every 10 minutes.
Finally, about a week after classes start, there will be an add/drop period where the original waitlist is reset and everything is on a first-come, first-serve basis. I don't think I will be adding/dropping any courses because I was able to get all my classes after the Waiting Number System round, but we'll see!
